Ergonomic Tip of the Month: Help for Chair Adjustment & Maintenance
http://ors.uchc.edu/ergo/ergoweb.htmlAre you constantly trying to find a comfortable position while seated in your chair or are you dissatisfied with your chair? Is it wobbly, missing an arm, or just doesn't seem to give you enough lumbar support? The Office of Research Safety and Insalco Chair Co. have two suggestions. 1) The chair may be simply be missing a part such as a knob that keeps the arm tight. Don't loose chair parts or discard unknown or unused parts. Find missing parts before discarding the chair or ordering a new part. 2) Insure the chair is adjusted properly. Often the backrest has not been raised high enough. Or the chair has not been adjusted at all since delivery. The following link lists guidelines for seated posture and for adjusting a "Seating Inc." brand chair.
Insalco Chair Co. will assess your chair if it is a "Seating Inc." chair. Check under the seat for the name on the label and then contact Scott Kowalski, at 203-272-4249 or
scott-insalco@snet.net. If it is not a "Seating Inc." chair and you have a problem, contact X3844 for help.
